Building a site with Wikka Wiki

14th December 2010

I thought it only fair to write the first scribble about using Wikka Wiki. It has been something of a journey with my patchy knowledge of CSS. But I have to say that while it took a while to sort out the logic of the site that Wikka builds, once I had, it became pretty straight forward. Dario Taraborelli offered someuseful adviceabout building a site with Wikka, i.e. an invisible Wiki as the engine for a site. I very much liked the style he used forhis siteand have modelled what I have done here on his.

I am still playing with fonts/sizes and such but I think I have more or less sorted out the basic structure of what I want to do. The other thing I managed to do was to set up a 2nd Wiki. The advice from Brian Koontz was excellent. I opted for separate MySQL databases andthe hosting service I usemade that pretty easy to do once I'd worked out how the setup process worked. It is interesting how much of this stuff is tacit know how for most folk and how cryptic detailed and thoughtful notes about how to do it can be to an outsider.
