Peter Palchinsky

A Russian engineer who sadly did not survive the barbarism of communist Russia. His work is briefly mentioned in Tim Harford's book: Adapt. Harford summarises his ideas as the three 'Palchinsky principles':
first: seek out new ideas and try new things;
second: when trying something new, do it on a scale that is survivable;
third: seek out feedback and learn from your mistakes as you go along.

Harford sources the information about Palchinsky: Graham, L. R. (1993). The ghost of the executed engineer : technology and the fall of the Soviet Union. Cambridge, Mass.: Harvard University Press.
